Kansas State Assessments

Kansas State High School State Assessments are a very important for students, teachers and patrons of USD 111. The information that is gathered from these test are used to:

1. Drive instruction in the classroom.

2. Help every child be successful

3. Find gaps in curriculum

4. And are tied to state funding: (Very important in these current times)

In this article you will find a testing schedules for the 3-12 grades and some helpful information to help your student be more successful.

3-8 Grade Schedule and Information:

From Mrs. Ellis:

Doniphan West Middle/Elementary School is working hard getting prepared for assessments. All students will be taking the Kansas Math and Reading tests beginning on March 1^st and ending March 31st. Fourth and Seventh Graders will be taking the Science Assessment in April. Assessment time is a very critical time for the students and the staff at Doniphan West Middle/Elementary School. Please make sure your child is attending school and doing their homework.

There are ways that you can help your child succeed and do well on tests and school.

Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep before the test and school.
Provide a healthy breakfast.
Have your child dress comfortably and arrive at school on time.
Send your child off to school with confidence-building words of praise and support: You’ll do great!! Believe in yourself!! I love you!!!
Suggest to your child to breathe deeply and relax before and during the test.
Remind your child to read directions carefully and look at all answers before choosing one.
Tell your child to check his or her answers before turning in the test.
Do not schedule trips, dental or medical appointments, or early pickups for testing days.
Let your child know how important the test is.

March 8^th DWMS/ES will be having a kick-off Pep Rally to fire up the students. The State Assessments should be a celebration of their knowledge. Please talk the students up when sending them to school.

With your help and the help from the staff, I know that Doniphan West Middle/Elementary School will achieve high marks on this year’s state assessment.

Thanks to your help and the dedication of the staff at DWMS/ES, we are celebrating the recognition of “Standards of Excellence in different grades for Reading and Math” on last year’s test. Doniphan West Middle School will be receiving the Gold Standard Award for their Reading test scores last year. Thanks for your support and dedication to the high expectations that we set.

A. Reading testing for the 11th grade students during first block.

2. March 19

A. Make up Testing for Reading.

3. April 6 - April 8

A. Math testing for 10th and 11th grade students during first block

4. April 9th

A. Make up day for Math

5. April 19th

A. Science Testing for 10th grade students during first block.
