Egg Drop Contest

Students in Mrs. Smith's fifth grade class participated in an egg drop contest recently. Through the Interactive Distance Learning, students were guided through a lesson where they designed a contraption to protect a raw egg when dropped to the ground. Students could only use the materials given to them but were not required to use all of them. The materials included a paper plate, a plastic sack, two balloons, two rubber bands, tape, straws, string, and a ziploc bag. Students worked in teams to sketch then build a design to protect their egg. They answered questions about the choice of their design, their hypothesis, and their conclusion. Out of the eight egg drops, two were successful.
