2008 DWMS Track

Go Mustangs!

By Tammi Rauch and Shannon Conrad

April 23, 2008

Doniphan West middle school track season is off to a great start.  Despite the winter like weather through our training period, we have managed to be quite competitive in our meets.

So far, we have attended and competed in four meets:  the Wathena Invitational, Doniphan West Invitational #1, County meet, and Doniphan West Invitational #2.

Each of these meets we were very competitive with other contenders and our 7th grade boys and girls won a number of these meets in their division.  In addition to being so successful in the 7th grade boys and girls division, we also had a number of Doniphan West middle school records broken by our 2008 middle school track competitors.  In 8th grade, Aaron Halling beat the 8th grade boys 800 meter run record and Tyler Diveley beat the 8th grade boys 1600 meter run record.  In 7th grade, we have had a number of records shatter.  These new record holders belong to Kassidy Blevins in the long jump, Luke Thombly in the high jump and Derek Gibson in the shot put.  We have many other individual competitors and relay teams that are extremely close to breaking the records, and anticipate many more records broken in our upcoming meets.

Doniphan West Middle School track team will be competing in three more track meets, including Elwood relays on Monday, May 28, Everest track meet on May 29th and our DVL track meet on May 3 at Doniphan West middle school.
