Highland Elementary

Pep Assembly at HES

by Cathy Gundersen

February 27, 2008

Lights! Music! Action!  The HES students welcomed the DWHS cheer and dance squads to pump up the excitement for the upcoming state assessments.  A human tunnel was formed for students in grades 3-5 to run through as their names were announced where they were greeted by other students and teachers with cheers and high fives.  The cheer and dance squads performed “assessment” chants along with lots of cheering and dancing.  Teachers were invited up to the stage to don costumes and dance to “YMCA.”  The teachers also participated in a contest to see who could find the gummy worm in a whipped cream pie without using their hands.  The gym erupted with noise as students applauded their teachers.  What an awesome kick off to our state assessment!  Thank you Kelly, Seth, Allison, and the members of the dance and cheer squads!
